How to Choose the Ideal Bet Amount Per Line in a Slot Game

Total Overdrive Slots

Choosing your line bet is one of the most important things to do when you play any online slot game. So, we thought we'd give you some tips on how to make the best choice for you.

What's your overall budget for playing the slot?

This is the most important question, because it helps you work out the best bet amount for each spin of a slot game. If you plan to play more than one game, divide your budget between them before you begin.

What are the minimum and maximum coin values?

You can find this out by using the controls on the game screen. The lowest will be one cent per line, but other games have higher minimums. If you intend to go higher, see what other options there are, too.

How many lines can you play on?

Your bet per line will be multiplied by the number of lines available, so you need to know this, too. If the game is an all ways pays game or something similar, it will usually work out your bet by assuming a specific number of lines is played, i.e. 20 or 30, for example.

Are there extra bets you can place to trigger bonus features?

Some games include an optional additional bet that makes it possible to trigger bonus features. If you don't place that bet, you cannot unlock one or more of those bonuses. We prefer games where the bonuses are part of the overall bet, but if you encounter a game like this, it is important to gauge the outcome on your budget and on the quality of the gameplay if you did (or didn't) go for the additional bet.

Get the most from every slot you play with this advice

By looking at all the above elements, you can more easily decide which bet will suit you for each slot game you play. All you need to do is to look at your own budget and your preference for playing a higher or lower bet. Once you have all that information at your fingertips, you will find it much easier to decide on the best bets to place each time.

Good luck with your next slot game session, and we hope the above information is useful - especially if you're new to slots and you're not sure where to begin.
